Comment text: Contrary to some of the previous comments, personally I have always found the Kampi West organisers to be honest, and always willing to do what they can for the benefit of the teams. I do not believe sports and politics should mix, which is one of the reasons as to why I chose not to attend on the "awards" night. I must also add that I feel strongly offended by the comments made by Daisy Brett-Holt regarding the players taking part in the tournament, whom she has never put effort into getting to know, before insulting us. Most of us don't even know who you are Daisy.

Dear Basketball Player 2

Since you disagree with Basketball Player 1’s comment, I would assume that you are not him.  I agree with you that the KAMPI WEST organisers are honest, helpful and hard working.  In fact, I would commend Jun Buena, Rony, Alfredo Brazil and Claire Mathews.  Jun did a tremendous job, but for some reason, he tried to do too much on his own.   Claire, despite not being properly informed about the arrangements, turned up with many friends and helped during the event.  Moreover, I am sure that their desire to honour the basketball players was genuine.

We can therefore say that their only faults were poor communication and bad organisation.

Let us now turn to the role of the players.  I apologise for strongly offending your feelings.  However, you must understand that my comments were meant to make the players realise the gravity of what they have done.  Would you have written your comments had PJI just kept quiet as though nothing unjust happened?

Thank you for telling us your position about “not mixing sports and politics”, which is why you chose not to attend the Awards Night.  But isn’t this admission too late?  Could you have told KAMPI WEST two months or a week before the event, for courtesy sake?

Once again, let me reiterate, that it is not politics to want for a better Philippines where :

  • people are free from fear of intimidation;
  • the government is honest, transparent and accountable for its actions; and
  • justice is served when it is due because justice delayed, is justice denied.

Lastly, would you have behaved differently had we met face to face?  We distributed fliers at the tournament and attended a party given by KAMPI WEST where I spoke about JURY SYSTEM to many party-goers.  Were you there?

I could have told you then that what PJI does is not for politics but for love of country.
